Fantastic Beast

(The Blacked Out Poems #3)

Beauty in dysfunction.
I prefer shards to the mirror.
Each piece beams back and
reveals a different side to me.
I am lured in when
it cannot work.

You crazy bitch, you cackle
strangely, more attractive
as you depart.
A whole moon in the sky
sends life-changing waves
inside of me and you
have already been changed;
a monster, terrifying before
my eyes.
Fantastic beast,
will you let me find you
on Monday night over karaoke?
Drinks are on me.
Let’s get weird.
Soon I’ll be dead
and my soul will be free.
